Thus the term “package store” came to be synonymous with “liquor store”. Such laws were meant to cover the true identity of the contents. Presumably, these laws were developed after Prohibition ended in 1933 in order to assuage the sensitivities of those folks who looked down on the sale, purchase and consumption of spirits.
